“The old ranch buildings are still standing — it's a working historic site, not a reconstruction — and you can walk right through before the trail picks up into the Tule Elk Reserve.”
We stopped at Pierce Point Ranch before heading out on the Tomales Point Trail. The old ranch buildings are still standing — it's a working historic site, not a reconstruction — and you can walk right through before the trail picks up into the Tule Elk Reserve. The views down to Tomales Bay open up pretty quickly once you get moving. Good starting point if you're doing the full out-and-back to the point.
History
Pierce Point Ranch was established in 1858 and became one of the most productive dairy operations in 19th-century Marin County, known specifically for the quality of its butter.
“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”
